Revealing Snow

Started snowing on the friday, and it seems as thou it hasn't stopped yet. Which means, that I will look like a snowman when I get to work today. And to make it worse... it's not even cold outside, so not only will I look like Frosty, but I will also be wet like I've taken a bath with my cloths on.
One thing is for certain... I will need to use my winter pants on top of my normal pants, and make sure that I have a spare pair of socks in my bag... you know, just in case.

Let's leave the weather for now, or you might think we are having a conversation at the bus stop or something. And let me tell you something seriously... umm.. disturbing.
Latetly, I've added a few "not safe for work" mods to my Skyrim game (which I've now clocked in at 903 hours of game time on), and some of these mods, makes me think, that my character, has started to understand what I make her wear.
Just look at her expression... clearly, she is VERY uncomfortable, and is hidding the parts that my armour mod has revealed.
Granted, there is a mod that make my character embaraced after specific events has happened, I'll let you figure out what that might be, but now thou, I've made her a bit of an excerbitionist, so now, she feels no shame when doing such "events" or tasks. So that was the one and only time she looked ashamed.
But lets face it, it is a bit funny.

Well, time for me to get ready for work, and see if I can't wright some more on my second book.

Some Wood

A bit late perhaps... about 40 minutes on monday right now. But what do you care!! :P

I have finally started my woodworking project. Not done much yet, noticed I need to buy more wood, and preferably, some thinner things, the wood I had, was a bit on the thick side, 4,5cm. But beyond having the need to buy some more materials, it's going good.

We have to keep in mind, that I am a novice in this, so don't expect a super duper awesome thing that is also finished in a few hours... this is a project that will take time. And I, personally, am fine with that. :)

As you can see from the picture, I have so far made the bottom (or the top if you so wish) with a few pre-drilled holes for the screws and 4 of the 8 umm... sides? Anyway, gonna screw them together so they form a base that will become part of the main structure, another 4 of the same kind of square planks will then be the pillars that will eventually hold up the roof... or something like that. Don't expect a very well explained and detailed plan here, I'm a novice in both the trade, and it's language.

On a side note, the electric jigsaw.. sounds like a train from the 1800's, so might have to be mroe specific about when I use it... say, when everyone else in the house is at work :P

Anyway... I'll hopefully have some more updates for you in the near future.

Until then, as usual...

Taken Snow

Looking outside my window this morning, I can see that the tree has gotten a bit fatter... about 10 centimetres on most of the branches. I can't belive how much it has snowed. The winter started off so nice, not very cold, hardly any snow, and it was safe to use your bike to get to work.
Well that's all over with... during the week, it snowed for close to 36 hours straight. Even so heavy at times, that it came down 2cm between me coming to work, and then leaving. 6 hours later.
And with all the ups and downs in the weather, all the ice on the roads are now hidden, and thus, dangerous as hell to ride on.

Just so you get the idea... here's what I see just over my computer screen right now.

The top layer, is of soft fluffy snow, the kind you love to run around in (if you are a kid), go skiing in, go down a hill in a sledge or make snow angels.
But the bottom part, is hard packed snow, that is more like ice then snow and is thereof a hazard to even look at!!
So far, I've been fortunate enough to not fall and broken anything like I did last year, but give it time, I'll probably be in a full bodycast before my birthday... ^^

Anyway, went to see Taken 3 at the theaters yesterday. It was way better then the second, but in the same catagory as the first. Very suspenseful, good action, great humor and good story. I highly recommend it, but if you haven't seen Taken 1 AND 2... see them first, in order, and some things will be understood better.

Lets see what I got for you tomorrow!

Fire Fight

No woodworking stuff this week, but I have bought a load of things for the first project... so hopefully, you'll get some info on it next week.
This sunday thou, you'll get gaming, as per usual.

The following screen shot was taken in a flashpoint called Blood Hunt. And Shae Vizla, is the final boss... one you don't actually kill. Just beat the living snot out of.
You do it to prove your worth to the Mandalorians, so they will help you in putting an end to Revan and his Revanite cultists who threaten to kill everyone else.

Let me tell you, that girl, is one tough chick! Four people, all with very good equipment and weapons, all well skilled in combat, still takes a long time to take her down. But then, that's the general idea of an end boss in anything game related.

Long story short... she liked that we handed her her own ass, and agrees to help us.

War of Fear

We all know by now, what happened in France about a week ago. The horrible killings and the murder of cartoonists that had made satire drawing of the muslim prophet Muhammed.
There is no denying it, the murderers where muslim fundamentalists, aka terorrists, that killed people because they were offended. They said it was an affront to their religion, but their religion clearly states that no man should ever kill another man, so by doing so, they broke their own religious conviction.
Besides, what really happens when you get offended? Nothing. Nothing happens when you get offended. It's not like you loose a lung when you hear or see or read something that offends you.

Between the 3rd and 6th of january, there was even more murders done in the name of Allah, in Africa, by the muslim fundamentalists Boko Haram. They killed over 2000 people during those days, and burned down over 60 buildings. Local news said 150 – 2000, but other sources said over 2500, either way, it's not good. But I doubt you've heard much of that.
And then it is the Al Quaida, who have done so much damage over the years.

So what am I on about? Well what I wanted to talk about is fear. Fear of extremists who kill for their religion. Who kill anyone who doesn't agree with them, or their extreme version of their religion, in other words, if you are a muslim, they'd still kill you just cause you don't agree with their version.
Religious nutballs who'll kill anyone, period.

Here in Sweden, there has been alot of attacks lately of muslim communities, such as temples and places of gatherings. Threats, violence and destruction of property.
And I can honestly say, that I understand these things, I understand why they are happening. I don't agree with them, but I do understand them, and where they are coming from.
You see, people are afraid. They are afraid of muslims.
The extremeists who you hear about, are all bad, so people tend to think that all muslims are bad. All muslims are not bad, far from it. There are more good muslims, then (hopefully) there will ever be bad ones. 1,5 billion muslims are in our world, and only a hand full are bad.
But that which scares me more then anything, is not just the extreme muslims, but all the muslims and non muslims, who do jack shit about it.
So can we really blame them for trying to remove muslims? They scare people, cause they don't know if the place the muslims gather, are a haven for the extremist recruiters or already a beehive of terrorists, or just a place for religious people to talk and be social. You just don't know, so they fear it. I for one, can understand.
There is a place in my neighbourhood, a spot in the center, called ”New Jerusalem”, and when ever they have meetings, all you hear is someone on a megaphone, or something like that, screaming words I don't understand for hours on end. I don't know what's behind the windows at that place, as they are covered with thick paper. What if it's a place for terrorists? What if it's a place where Boko Haram or IS recruits the youth in my part of the town? Or it cold just be a highly religious gathering that won't harm so much as a fly.
See my point?

We have just now started to do something about the people that leave our country to go fight for IS (Islamic State), to try and catch them before they leave. But this also means, that there are active recruiters in our country. And we need to find them and stop them from luring in young people to fight a war they probably don't want to be a part of in the first place.
But as just a normal mortal, I don't know how. I belive in logic and science, higher powers don't enter into my life at all, so the only way I could convince people to stop being terrorists for a religion, would be to convince them that there is no god. And I don't belive that would go over so well.
So what I would propose, is get several muslim officials, imam's or what their ”priests” are called, that know their holy book inside and out, to teach better, more peaceful, islam.
Or maybe that too is just a dream.

I fear, that there is a war going on in the world. A war that currently only the terrorists are fighting with weapons in. And if something isn't done soon, we will all be in this war, and we'll be on the loosing end.

I ”pray” that I am wrong thou.

Serious Monster-Boobs

One of the games I bought on the Steam Christmas Sale, was Serious Sam 3. It's an FPS game, meaning First Person Shooter. You just see what ever gun you happen to wield, and everything infront of you.

Now the beauty of the Serious Sam games, is the amount of action. It's close to nonstop. Waves upon waves of enemies. Aliens who want nothing but eradicate all human life, and Sam, is the guy to spoil their plans.
And you... are Sam. The most badass dude in the known galaxy!

Normal aftermath.
Where ever Sam walks, blood and body parts from aliens and monsters follow.

In this third installment, we are in Egypt (I think we were there in the first one too), trying to find stuff to power some ancient alien machine, to stop the aliens and their murderous ways, by going back in time... or something like that.
But it seems that the aliens know what I'm up too, cause they are around every corner in an otherwise deserted place.

Some of em thou...

Not a great kisser. And there is now way in hell I'm putting my p***s in that mouth.
Some of the aliens, are just horrible. Giant bloated monsters, headless gunners, rotting bulls... and flying half naked women with giant teeth and talons for feet.

But the best thing about this game, besides the action, is Sam's oneliners, like taken directly from an 80's action movie;

"Are you guys having an ugly contest? I will make it easy for you. You both win."
"Ten sticks of dynamite, 400 dollars. Blowing up one of mankinds oldest artworks, pricelss."
"I'd be pretty angry too if I couldn't see my own junk."

Such hilarity, such humor.

Fear Snow

When I woke up this morning, I could hear the rain falling on the windowsill, and when I looked outside my window, I could still see snow on the grass.
Two hours later, the grass was all I could see. No snow left. There are still some snowbanks around, but they are few and far between, and I suspect, that what ever ice was on the roads, are most likely gone too.
The news told me yesterday that more snow is coming this weekend, so we can always cross our fingers that either it will, and that it will stay awhile, or that it won't, and we won't have to worry about slipping and breaking our asses.

Last work day of the week for me too. Got nothing big planed for the weekend. Gonna try and clean up a bit, buy a new bike and some materials for the project I talked about in the last entry. We'll see if I come up with anything else.

Just read a trilogy of books in the Star Wars universe called The Dark Nest Trilogy. It takes place about 35 years after Star Wars episode 6, and follows all the old names, Luke, Leia and Han, but also a load of their kids. It centers around a species known as Killiks, which are an insectoid species.
Due to some unforseen happenings, a few jedi have been entered into the Killik's colonies and hive minds, and a war is about to break out that will, if unchecked, consume the entire galaxy.
I've read a few Star Wars novels, and to be honest, these ones... weren't that great. The book's about Darth Bane was far better, and more interesting, and not just becouse it was about the dark side and one of its champions, but also for the better story.
I am now back on Warhammer 40 000 and the book Fear to Tread: The Angels Fall, which is about the 9th legion; The Blood Angels and its primarch Sanguinius. I haven't come far in the book yet, so can't give specifics on it's story, but so far, 67 pages in, it's still better then the Dark Nest books.

That will have to be it for now. Lets see what I give you on sunday.

No Screenie Sunday

No screenie from no game this week. But instead, I'll give you the first bits of information on my upcoming project; The Woodworker's Spare Time!
The projects name may be subject to change. No idea's are finalized. No project is expected to be picture perfect... but I'm still gonna do it, and when ever I have worked a bit on em, I'll post em here on the sunday editions. Hopefully, a new pic or two, will come along every two weeks or so, it all depends on how productive I am, and how much I know what the hell I'm even doing.

So to start shit off. My two christmas gifts this year, that was part of the new ideas, was an electric drill and an equally electric jigsaw. After that, I bought this workbench. It's a smaller model, but for the first project, I dont need something hugh. I just need something that will work for my purpose, and as far as I can see, this will do just fine.

I still haven't bought any of the materials I will be needing to build my first project, but no worries, they will come along when opportunity arrives. One of the things I need, is a particleboard, and they are only sold in large shapes. So large in fact, that I will be needing a car to bring it home. I can probably get it cut down in size at the shop, but as one of my future projects requires a board of 100cm x 50cm, its still gonna be too big to just put under the arm and start walking home with. So that piece might have to wait a bit, at least until next weekend. All the other parts should be no issue getting home on foot. But if I get those at the same time I get the board home, I'll have the added bonus of having them driven home too :P

All the other little things thou, screws, nails, hinges and chicken wire I can get before as they will all (besides the cicken wire obviously) fit nicely in what ever pockets I happen to be having on what ever cloths I will be wearing to the shop.

Here's a crude and highly inaccurate hand drawn schematic of what my first project will look like. Its a cage, for future rats. I miss having rats. They are social, cuddly and easy to teach stuff. I have loved all my rats over the years, and its about time I get some again.
But yea, that schematic shows side, front, top and gives you a very basic idea of what I have in my head.
Several floors, possibly ending in three seperate floors. "Toilet" and such at the bottom, food and water on the second, and the bed, made of leather, stretched across the cage with some kind of rope or ladder to allow access too it. I know that rats enjoy hammocks, but I haven't had one for any of my rats so far, so the new ones I get, will be sleeping like kings! Lets just hope they find it to be as awesome as I think it is... would be a bit of a wasted time if they end up sleeping in the toilet.. (no people, rats are very clean, and will do what they can to not sleep in their own filth)

Well thats pretty much it for this time. When new stuff arrives, I'll fill you in.
